Felix and I just got home from Capone’s. I’m tired but I’m not sleepy. I think. I have to be up before 6 am to get the son ready for school. I’m not sure whether to sleep or just stay up until the boy leaves. In the mean time, blog!
I went bead shopping last Saturday with my brother and sister-in-law. I bought strands of 8mm round faceted onyx, 12mm round fiery red carnelians, and tubular-shaped black agates. I’ll try to work on them later with this design in my head. But knowing me, I probably will end up creating an entirely different thing. LOL. You know what else I should have gotten? Some sodalites. They would look really nice with those black stones. Next time.
After bead shopping, Felix and I went to the mall for another attempt to search for the perfect chassis. The new computer parts arrived last week, and Felix is just dying to assemble them. This one I am currently using is OLD, like 2003 old, eep! If not for Felix’s efforts at keeping this thing from breaking, I’d be computer-less in no time! (He’s awesome with computer stuff, really.) Sadly, it was yet another failed search.
Why are nice chassis such rarity around here? It’s not like we’re asking for a diamond-encrusted platinum chassis. We even attempted to purchase one from Villman, after seeing it featured on their website. But it was out of stock. Their website said new. So why keep something like that posted as new if it’s already out of stock? You would think somebody from their company could be bothered to update their stuff, at least to avoid misleading potential customers. Could have saved us some time, effort and gas. Jerks.
So, yeah. I will try to post more meaningful stuff next time. I’m nodding off. I will sleep, while Felix does some butt and belly grabbings. Three hours. Good luck.
Good news, people! After twenty long months, I now have an interview appointment schedule at the U.S. Embassy… YEAH! I got the call from my mother-law-yesterday, saying she received the appointment letter from the National Visa Center. She was like, “the letter says your interview is scheduled on March 5 at 6:30 am.” I’m like, “OMG! Really? Six thirty… WHAT?!” LOL. Yeah, that’s right, 6:30 am. Here’s more… I have to be there an hour before my interview. Suh-weet.
This is like the moment Felix and I have been waiting for. Am I happy? DUH. Am I scared? Hell, yeah! Everything is at stake here, you know? We’ve spent so much time, effort, and money in this whole petition process. I have to win. My brain is like in panic mode right now. Must stay calm and collected. Must gather MORE documents. Must get that visa. AAAHHH!
Meanwhile, the website is almost done. Felix already installed the CAPTCHA plug-in for the blog, beaded jewerly and scrapbook pages. I have never dealt with spam comments my whole blogging life, and I really don’t want to. So I am hopeful the CAPTCHA plug-in keeps the spammers from doing stupid things. There, there.
In one of my many bead-shopping trips, I found some really nice pink opals. Since I am partial to anything pink, yup, I didn’t waste any time buying them. I’m not really sure what the pink opals are called. I did my research, and it seems they’re called pink peruvian opals, but I could be wrong. If you happen to know what they’re called, please let me know.
The pink opals were the perfect match for the rhodonites I bought from my previous shopping trip. I resisted using the rhodonites, at least until I found the right stones to use them with. And I finally did!
I find rhodonite an easy stone to work with, because of its creamy pink color with black and brown vein-like characteristics. To bring the two stones together, I used some smoky quartz and rose quartz. I love the way the stones complement one another. Out of the many necklaces I’ve made, this one, by far, is my favorite.

In order to make this opera necklace (the necklace is roughly 28 inches), I used the following materials: three (3) 12mm rhodonites, three (3) puffed rectangle pink opals, six (6) puffed square smoky quartz, eleven (11) 6mm rose quartz, eleven (11) 6mm rhodonites, twelve (12) delica beads, six (6) bead caps, thirty four (34) head pins, and a twenty (20) inch chain. The 6mm rose quartz and 6mm rhodonite units were attached to the chain links using a wrapped loop technique.
If you have any questions about the necklace, feel free to ask!
Yay, my very first post in my new blog! I have always wanted my own website, and it’s finally happened! It’s been such a long time since I blogged something, thanks to Freewebs for turning ultimately gay on me. I have a lot of explaining to do, however, I do not want to spoil this moment by recalling the events of what took place with my former blog. I will take you to it, one entry at a time. For now, let’s relish my first post in eight months.
At the moment I am working on my About/Contact page. It’s been the same About Me page I have had since 2003, and I was thinking of reformatting it to something like an FAQ layout. So if you have questions you’d like to ask about me or the site, go ahead. I could use some help with the layout, you know?
As you can see, things are still a bit wonky here. I’m trying to hurry up, however, I have other things on my plate. Wife and mother duties, mostly. Pardon me. If you happen to stumble upon a broken link, a messy layout somewhere, or something, let me know, will you? Just the same, tell me what you think about the site in general. Better yet, tell me anything! I would love to hear your thoughts.
Lots of love to Felix for this new cyber crib! <3
