I turned another year older wiser yesterday! Yes, that deserves some high levels of excitement.
Immediately after the 10:45am mass, we (by we, I mean Felix, Nate, myself, my aunt and uncle) headed to this place called BJ’s Restaurant in Westfield Oakridge for lunch, where we were to meet up with my cousin, Lorina. After my birthday lunch, which involved some picture-taking, really yummy food, and this wonderful desert called pizookie (it’s a cookie the size of a pizza, topped with vanilla ice cream), Lorina, Felix, Nate and I drove to Sew Beadazzled in Willow Glen. My first bead store trip in five months. Lorina came up with the idea of taking me to a bead store for some shopping - her treat. I haven’t created any beaded jewelry in months, and it was my first trip to Sew Beadazzled. I couldn’t resist the birthday offer!
Lorina got me some Swarovski bicones, in 6s and 8s, some findings and this wacky chain in gun metal, which looks really cool. Felix, my sweet, loving Felix, bought me a new set of tools. I will take pictures of my gifts before I begin working on my new project. I think it’s going to look really pretty. I mean, it looks pretty in my head, and I just can’t wait to start on it! I am excited, if you can’t tell. I wanted to start on the project last night, but I was already too tired, especially after replying to all the birthday greetings I got on Facebook. Warm fuzzies.
Anyway, earlier today, I went to pick up Nate’s emergency contact form for tomorrow’s Freshmen Orientation and schedule pick-up. School begins next Tuesday. It’s kind of bittersweet, but more happy than sad, if that makes sense. What can I say? I have a 9th grader who’s turning fourteen years old in less than a month. It’s wild, isn’t it?! I still can’t get over it!
Also today, I got a call from the Office of Education Human Resource Specialist, letting me know that my application will be forwarded to one of the high school principals who is still in need of a Special Ed teacher. I hope I hear from them this week. Keep those fingers and toes crossed still, please!
That’s all for now, people. Now if you’ll all excuse me, I have some serious beading to do. Pictures and a beaded jewelry update coming soon, I promise! <3
