I Made a List

Happy New Year once again, folks! I’m starting my blogging year right by posting my first entry for 2012 — the blogger bandwagon new year’s resolution/goal list!

As I sit here on the computer trying to narrow down a long list of personal goals to something attainable and reasonable, there’s that undeniable sense of anxiety building up. What if I’m unable to? Maybe I shouldn’t even bother. I want to make sure I’m not setting myself up for failure, at the same time, I don’t want to underestimate my capabilities here. I want to be able to achieve these goals. For listers, such as myself, there’s nothing more gratifying than to see the items in the list being crossed out one by one.

Personal Goals for 2012

1. Once a month hand-made project. Knit, crochet, beaded jewelry, possibly even a DIY. Because hand-made is awesome.

2. Learn new knitting techniques. At least three. My top three choices are double knitting, fair-isle and intarsia.

3. Test a new recipe at least once a month. And blog about it.

4. Blog at least once a month. How else do I showcase my hand-made projects and meals? It’s my creative outlet, and I would like to be able to document my successes and failures.

5. Build my craft room. I have been wanting to do this with our spare room. Perhaps this year’s the year I’ll actually have a craft room?

6. Thrift more. I can’t get enough of thrifting, but I rarely have the time to go anyway. I would like to be able to walk out of a thrift store, at least once, with something vintage, particularly from the 50s or 60s.

7. Lose at least a pound a month. Now don’t hold your breath on this one, because this is a tough goal. I don’t have a plan yet, but I’ll come up with something.

8. Own a sewing machine. This one is in relation to making hand-made projects.

9. Learn to make dresses using the sewing machine. If I can’t find vintage or vintage-inspired dresses in my size, I might as well make my own! The thought of making my own dress makes me giddy.

10. Wear dresses more often. At least once a week. At least.

11. Get my NCLB certificate. It only makes sense, because I want to keep my job. This could possibly be one of the toughest goals in this list.

12. Start on my Level 2 credential. Again, I want to keep my job. It’s going to cost a lot, but it needs to get done.

13. Own a DSLR camera. I was so close to owning one, but I held back due to anxiety. This time around, I am going for it.

14. Learn to use the DSLR camera for documenting my projects. How else do I showcase my hand-made projects and meals? Oh wait, I already said that. Actually, I just need to take pictures more often.

15. Last but definitely NOT the least, get pregnant. *Gasp!*

Have you made your personal goals for 2012 yet? If you have, will you let me in on yours? I would love to read about them!
