I hardly got to do anything due to an awful migraine that kept me in bed for four days. (I swear it felt like forever!) That’s four precious days in my life that I’m never getting back!

On the third day of dealing with the throbbing pain, I decided to take some Vicodin (left over from my surgery last summer). I remember one of my friends, who suffers from a similar horrible curse, telling me that Vicodin works for her. So I thought, why not? Well, now I know why not. Instead of relieving me from my suffering, it made me even sicker. Lesson of the day? Never taking that stuff again for migraines!




Loving the dragonfly pattern.

 

I’m finishing socks #4, and I’m really happy with the way they’re turning out. For this pair, I am knitting Dragonfly Socks by Jocelyn Sertich. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to make a pair out of one ball (approximately 248 yards), so I decided to make the cuffs shorter. Just to be on the safe side, I bought a kitchen scale and divided the ball in half by its weight. (Postage scale should also work for this purpose.) Awesome tip, right? I really enjoyed knitting with Spud & Chloë Fine. It’s such a beautiful fingering weight yarn, and the stitch definition is wonderful. Definitely on my list of favorite yarns!

Moving on to other pretty things, I discovered a nail supply store about seven miles from my place that sells nail polish brands like China Glaze, Creative Nail Design, Essie, OPI, Orly, and Zoya, for half the price you would see elsewhere! Oh, what a joy! Below is one of the colors I picked up — Vampsterdam from OPI Holland Collection.

I’ve been busy at work, as usual. I’ll have next week off, and I’m so looking forward to it. Felix and I don’t have any plans yet, but just the thought of catching up on my shows, knitting, and sleeping in puts me in a happy place. We are also in the process of getting the house ready for my parents’ visit. I have not seen them in almost three years, so you can imagine how excited I am!

Anyway, I finished socks #3, and I am super satisfied with the way they turned out. At the moment, I am working on socks #4, using Spud and Chloë. Images to follow, promise!




 

In other news, I recently ventured into the world of nail polish. I’m being made fun of by Felix, but who cares? I go crazy over all things pretty, and pretty nails are just too good to pass up. So why not?

Just so you know, work has been stressful. I feel like I’m falling behind with all the paperwork. Not meeting my own expectations does not sit well with me. It’s not about overachieving. I just want to succeed.

So going back to sock knitting — this is pair #3. I used Dream in Color’s Smooshy, which is 100% Superwash Merino. The yarn doesn’t pill, and the colorway is lovely; however, I’m not madly in love with it like I am with Madelinetosh Tosh Sock.




 

I have two unfinished sweaters buried somewhere at the moment that I have been wanting to finish, but at the rate my sock knitting is going, I probably will not be able to wear them until late spring. I figured, if I commit to knitting at least 20 rows a night, I should be able to finish a sock in seven days, or a pair in two weeks. I still have four pairs to knit, and if my math is correct, that means I won’t be done until April. Super heavy sigh.
