Lookit! My new baby, and she’s pink! *squeal*

Pretty in pink, isn’t she?
Yup, I have decided that my mixer is a she.
My thoughtful mother-in-law, in collaboration with Felix and his grandma, got me this sweet KitchenAid Artisan® Stand Mixer for my birthday. (My birthday isn’t till August, so you know!) I can’t wait to play with her!
My earliest memory of baking was when I was six. My mom used to take a lot of orders for cakes and pies, and I helped her out with those orders. Oh, she was awesome in the kitchen, I’m telling you! Me, I was her little baker. I helped her measure and sift and pour the ingredients into the mixer. The best part was being in charge of “cleaning” the beaters, which meant licking off the icing. I remember how my brothers and I would fight over this privilege. See, there were three of us and only two beaters. Good times. I eventually did a lot of baking myself. Birthday and Christmas gifts to friends were mostly goodies I baked. A lot of the kitchen tricks I know, I picked up from my mom. She’s gonna be so delighted when I tell her about my new baby. I already know, tee hee.
Hey, if you have any recipes you would like to share, feel free to post here or email me.
By the way, what have you planned for your 4th of July? I was thinking of going to Guadalupe River Park and join everyone in their Independence Day celebration. I’m not sure if Felix is up for it, though. There’s the dealing with heat and millions of people factor, so we’ll see. Wherever you end up going and whatever you decide on doing, may you have a wonderful 4th of July! I just might end up staying at home with my baby. *grin*
It’s been a while since I last posted something I made. That’s because it’s been a while since I last made something. The last project I was working on was a scarf for a co-worker, which I haven’t finished. I was almost done with it, but we had to move, and I haven’t crocheted since then. I did get to finish two other scarves, one of them was the orange and yellow scarf that I mentioned back in December.

The yellow and orange scarf was my first attempt at the shell stitch. It wasn’t as complex as I thought it was, and the only thing I wasn’t too eager about was changing colors. Other than that, I think it was an easy project.
The other one I made was also a first attempt at the v-stitch, another one that looked complicated, but really wasn’t. This one I finished relatively faster than the other, since I was only working on one yarn. I used the same type of novelty yarn that I used on my first project, the fuzzy one.

I had intended to send the scarves to two of my friends, one in Maryland and the other somewhere in the East Bay. I just haven’t gotten to it. I don’t think they’d mind getting a scarf in their mail during summer. What do you think?
I’m finally done remodeling my cyber crib! Welcome to the new and improved thisisabrowngirl.com!
I’m working on my website layout. In the process, I have decided to merge my three WordPress blogs into one, thus things are all over the place at the moment. Please bear with me, and check back soon.
Thank you, drive thru.
Update as of 11:06 pm - I was able to successfully merge all three blogs without losing anything. However, I still have to update some of the sidebar links. I have no idea why the links from the other two blogs did not export. It seems like I’m going to have to do them manually :-/
Update as of 1:48 am June 18th - As I was trying to move stuff around, I learned that JS-Kit, formerly known as Haloscan, has completely wiped out all of the comments in my former blog, the one I had before I moved here. I am really upset at this.
Update as of 2:57 am June 18th - I tried logging in to my Haloscan account, but it won’t let me. It’s saying I don’t have an account, what the frick? I hate you, JS-Kit, you and your stupid migration procedure. I paid for that account, and I had it for six years. Now it’s gone, all gone. Fags.
I’m going to bed. I’m too pissed right now. You suck, JS-Kit.
I know, I suck. I’m not a creative writer, you see. I have actually pondered whether I should keep this website or let it go. However, I have developed attachment to this website. It’s one of those things that I patiently learned to create, and if you’ve been following me the past six years, you know what I’m talking about.
Needless to say, I have decided to keep this baby, except, it will now be dedicated mostly to talking about the things I make. Because making things is what I really like to do.
